| Harbor
Sweets is an incredible candy company located in historic Salem Massachusetts.
Founded by Ben Strohecker 26 years ago in Marblehead, Massachusetts, Harbor
Sweets is truly a New England based business. Ben's original vision was
to develop the "best chocolate in the world regardless of cost." That dream
contributed to their unique marketplace as a relatively inexpensive gift
in high-end gift shops.
Inside the Harbor Sweets shop, inside the boxes that line the walls and are elegantly gift-wrapped with gold foil and slender white ribbons, is the most expensive handmade chocolate in America. Though each chocolate carries a unique design, all are made - by hand, from scratch - in the great red and white rooms of the chocolate factory. Harbor Sweets flagship candy, Sweet Sloops, was Strohecker's first confectionery creation while still experimenting in the basement of his Marblehead home. Now, Sweet Sloops alone account for one-third of Harbor Sweets chocolate sales. Harbor Sweets has often been commissioned to make custom chocolates for organizations like the Smithsonian, the Guggenheim, Harvard, and Talbots. If you find yourself in the Salem area, don't miss a visit to Harbor Sweets. You'll think you just stepped into Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, and Willy himself (Benneville Strohecker) and his "Charlie" (owner Phyllis LeBlanc) will greet you at the door with a silver tray of chocolate samples. |
